Features in: Fires of the Hidden City, part 2.
We know very little about Yobei, other than that he's one of the defenders of the Hidden City, Gisei Toshi. As such, he has never left the city since his birth. From the little we've seen of him he seems to obey without question or delay: a good soldier.

Shiba Yobei

2F, 3C
6HR, 7GC, 3PH
Phoenix Clan Samurai
Add a Void token to Yobei after each time a Spell action that targets him resolves.
Open: Remove a Void token from Yobei to give him +1F, +1C or +1 Personal Honour.

I remember that when Yobei came out, I was trying to build an all-samurai Phoenix honour deck. He was exactly what I needed - a samurai with a great PH/gold ratio (in Gold ed, anyway!). I've even seen him in a few Diamond decks because with Hiruma Dojo, he's a very affordable personality. However, he's not really strong enough to play.

While his stats are ok, they're nothing spectacular. 8 points of force/chi/personal honour for 7G is about average, and most personalities of that quality who see play have strong abilities. Yobei doesn't. There are very few spells in Diamond that you might play that target your own personalities, Force of Will being the main one that I can think of, for playing tricks with Morning Glory Castle and recycled personalities. Kihos, although producing spell effects, don't count as spell actions - otherwise Yobei would fit very nicely into a deck alongside Prayers and Blessings.

Yobei gets added to the pile of personalities who would be really great if they were changed ever so slightly. As it is, he just about fits into a rocket honour deck - where 7G for 3ph is all you really want from him.
