As soon as Phoenix players first saw Yoriko's preview, she's been seen as a bit weird (even by Phoenix standards!) thanks to the contortions she appears to be doing in her card art. When she was put forward as one of the candidates for Master of Water, nobody seemed too keen on putting her forward.
Isawa Yoriko
3F, 3C
8HR, 6GC, 2PH
Phoenix Clan Shugenja
Reaction: After Yoriko bows and successfully casts a Spell, destroy that Spell to straighten her.
(This can't be done if the Spell is destroyed or discarded when cast.)
Originally a 2/4 for 8GC with 2PH and an HR below 6, Yoriko has undergone a facelift in Diamond (though not as far as card art is concerned...) and is now a much better card. Boxable gold cost - even with a high honour requirement - and 3F is solid, while 2PH for 6G isn't a bad buy for honour decks. Her ability is all but useless (it's rarely going to be worth destroying a Spell just to stand her up) and isn't going to persuade people to put her in decks: that said, if you have her on the table don't forget about it.
Yoriko fits nicely into Switch decks, but is competing for the "above 6HR" slots in a deck - against Toshiji, Ningen XP, Ryouko, both Shiba Mirabus, Aikune XP2 and the rest. This stops her being an auto-include, but she's worth thinking about for any honourable deck.
