The Soul of the previous Grand Master of the Elements (and the namesake of Kuro's Fire), Washichi has a suitably powerful ability. With 6C and double chi, he's also appropriately hard to kill. However, despite being an individual of obvious power, he has yet to appear in the story. I hope his entrance is suitably epic.

Limited: Fetch a Spell or Kiho from your deck, show it to all players, and add it to your hand. Shuffle your deck.
I can handle Washichi having 10HR. I can handle him having a mere 2ph. But 14GC? 14 is a lot. 14 is the same cost as most Champions, and while you can make a case for Washichi being more useful than the Ratling champion even Bayushi Sunetra is more useful than him. Especially when you consider that as a Samurai and Courtier, there are holdings that pay more for the Scorpion Champion.
The problem is that Washichi doesn't really fit into any deck. Honour decks aren't going to pay 14G for 2ph. Military decks aren't going to reach 10 honour and pay 12 gold just to get out a 5F guy. Control decks need to spend gold on cards in their hand, and don't want to have to stay above 10 honour. Sure, fetching cards is very useful to Enlightenment - but by the time Washichi hits the table (and you've had another Limited phase) the game is probably over.
I'll be trying him in Enlightenment decks, but otherwise he's staying firmly in my binder. A pity.
