An Emerald Magistrate, Chieh first became known to us as a master illusionist during the telling of A Hero's Death. A forthright and formidable woman, her card was also one of the first to come out of that story. Her basic version became a workhorse for corrupt Phoenix decks everywhere - for although she's a magistrate in the story, her basic version has a very handy -HR. In Reign of Blood we received her Experienced version, which possesses one of the more useful traits in the game. Combined with the spell Kuro's Fire, Chieh is now as scary in the game as she is in the story!

Phoenix Clan Shugenja*Magistrate
Chieh counts as a member of every family which has members in your Faction.
This card is all about the stats and the Shugenja trait. Her family trait is flavour - representing her ability to manipulate her appearance nearly effortlessly - and is more of a drawback in Diamond than a benefit - and in any case, cards that interact with family names are rare. In Diamond, she doesn't see much play - as one of a very small number of -HR Phoenix personalities, there's not really a deck for her yet. If Phoenix ever go back to running dirty control decks, however, I'm sure she'll be back.

Phoenix Clan Fire Shugenja*Experienced*Unique
During battles where you control other units, Chieh may cast Spells as if she were in your army regardless of her location.
Chieh's Experienced version is truly a stunning card. Her stats are amazing for her gold cost, and her ability, far from being flavour, is immensely important mechanically. The ability to cast spells from outside the battle means that you only need someone else to be off fighting a battle. This has a couple of important tactical implications:
- If you attack, and your opponent doesn't defend, Chieh can still be at home to defend (along with whatever nasty spell she has attached...)
- If your opponent relies on cavalry or mobility to attack, you can afford to spread your defense across several provinces. Whichever one gets attacked, Chieh will be ready - depending on what spell you've given her, she can potentially decimate an attacking army completely.
Of course, her trait also means that she can help you defend without risking herself - and her 5C makes her pretty hard to remove out of battle. All in all, she's a really solid personality, and when building a Phoenix deck she's always worthy of consideration. Even if you run no spells, her stats alone might make her worthwhile (especially alongside Shiba Tsukimi).
