Sat 21st Nov 04
Hi guys, sorry for the lack of update but to put it simply we ran out of web space!
I`ve decieded to only post the Phoenix relevant previews here, I removed all the other clans` stuff. If you feel
like a certain card should be stored here just send me an email and I`ll put it in the image archives.
Anyway here are the rest of the Phoenix related cards that I haven`t posted yet:

|
Mon 15th Nov 04
Sorry, not more previews! Kijutsu gets all of those... and fills up the webspace with them *grumbles* :)
The RPG section now has its button on the left hand menu. I'll forgive any of you who hadn't noticed it existed until now. More content will come, when I (or someone else!) writes it!
|

Big thanks to Isawa Kaneda! All contributions to this site are always very much appreciated.
Second, here are a LOT of previews. The new Unicorn ones and the not so new rattling ones.

Thurs 21st Oct 04
Added an article on Isawa Ihara by Letomo-san, and fixed a broken link.
|
Mon 18th Oct 04
Well, back from Japan and then Gencon UK. Feeling more than a little zombified, but I guess that's understandable. Looking forward to a weekend off some time in November, which will bring to an end about 3 months of constant business (and 3 L5R story tournies - life is good :-)).
Updates today: An article on Acolytes of Air by Letomo-san, and a couple of new CoR decks from me. I'm also working on an Agasha control deck, but it's not really at a stage where I can put it up here (too slow still). It's getting to the stage where I've played CoR for so long I'm forgetting the joy of playing Turn of Fortune, so you also get an MGC BFM (Big Follower Military) deck. Eats Gozoku Scorpion for breakfast...

Mon 13th Oct 04
GenCon SoCal!
October is here, and that means that AEG is already preparing for our
GenCon SoCal events being held in the first week of December (2-5). As
many of you already know, AEG is good friends with the GenCon staff,
and we go the extra mile to support their conventions. Big things
always happen for AEG games during a GenCon, as it serves as the
perfect opportunity to highlight a specific event or match.
Mark Jelfo
Creative & Marketing Director
Alderac Entertainment Group, Inc.

The banner will stay on the bottom of the site until December :o)

Mon 11th Oct 04
Small update that took a look time to finish. I`ve added Isawa Ujina (The Nameless One) to the
Hero`s Shrine section. I`m planning on doing Shiba Ujimitsu next month, then again if
World of Warcraft is as good as I think maybe I`ll post his story a little late ;o)
|
Wed 6th Oct 04
Today I have the latest article from Letomo-san;
Bloodspeaker`s Sanctum
Also, for all who want to hear, I`ve finally met Samoshii-san(the man behind the character that is). Samoshii is currently visiting
Japan and of course that was the perfect occasion for us to finally meet! We went to a sushi restaurant (after 30min of walking around trying to find a cheap one).
It was a real pleasure to see him!
Cheers Samoshii, and thanks for the wisky! :o)
|
Sun 3rd Oct 04
Hello all, the ever resourceful Letomo-san has send us a new "Letomo`s Research" article;
Hero`s Grave
Dawn of the Empire has fully been previewed on L5R`s homepage. A few good cards
for us Phoenix. But I have to agree with my fellow Phoenix, the best card we got from that set is the Rattling Kan`Chek . Well at least he is wearing our colours!
*Cleaned up the main page, just a reminder that all past news can be found in the Previous News section.

Sun 26th Sept 04
Apologies for the long silence from me. My home computer hit a series of virus-related problems, and I didn't want to risk updating the site until I was absolutely sure my PC was clear!
Been to two story touries recently - the Sincerity and Polite Courtesy tournaments in Liverpool and Karlsruhe respectively. Reports for those have been added to the Decks section.
I'm off to Japan next weekend, for nine days. This will give me a chance to finally meet Kijutsu (!) and to see the country that inspired L5R... needless to say, I'm really looking forward to it!
The section that doesn't exist has also received some attention, since I hear the URL was published in the Herald. Admittedly, it would have been nice to have been told in advance, but it's nice to be noticed ;)
|
Sun 19th Sept 04
Minor update, added a question to our latest interview with Mr. Wulf, look for it a the bottom of
Interview #3. Special thanks to Isawa Ujihiro : )
Also, I`m looking for a copy of Isawa Ujina`s story (AKA The Nameless One) from Way of the Shadow, if you`d be so kind as to Email
me his story I would greatly appreciate it!
|
Thurs 16th Sept 04
Long time no update eh. Frankly nothing much happened lately. Two "Virtues Tournaments" were held though. One was won by Scropion, who chose Maru to be the the Champion of Sincerity
and the other was won indirectly by Crane, who chose Korihime to be the Champion of Duty (I think...)
2 interesting notes, our own Shiba Samoshii placed second at the Sincerity tournament! Congratulation to him! I`m sure he`ll post a deck and report here soon.
The second note is that although the players of the Duty tournament tried to get Kurohime to be corrupted, Rich said that the "corrupt the Crane" thing going around is getting boring and Korihime will stay pure.
Finally I do have the interview that I promised you 2 weeks ago. Sorry for the delay, Mr. Wulf and Carman are very busy people : )
I think you`ll find many answers to be very interesting indeed! *cough*GO~NINGEN*cough*
Interview #3

Tues 31st Aug 04
2 Phoenix backgrounds(now working) for all of you to enjoy. I`m tempted to change my background for Isawa`s one but Tsukimi is just to good to let go :o)

These great backgrounds were made by Gozu Kaze, more of his great work can be found right here.
*Note that even though these characters have the "lotus bug" that they are not actually living in Rokugan at this time, a player using those cards
will be considered to have been helped by Isawa or Yogo as ancestors.
|
Mon 30th Aug 04
I've added a couple of Wrath decks to the Decks section, along with my Gencon match report. Gencon was awesome as always, it was great to see everyone again. Many congrats to Salman for walking away with the big prize!

From The Ancension of the Mantis site Webmaster;
================
The Ascension of the Mantis is Looking for a New Webmaster
It's been time to move on for quite some time now. I really haven't
been
playing since the day of The Hidden City pre-release. But having played
the
game since Imperial Edition, it is very tough to let go. So much time
and
money invested, as well as so many awesome memories to cherish and
fellow
players who have become very good friends outside of the game, that
when you
look back, you ask yourself, "How can I leave all this behind?".
Like
many things in life, the answer is simply, "I just have to."
:)
So The Ascension of the Mantis is looking for a new
webmaster
(or webmasters :) hehe)...
I am perfectly willing to continue hosting the site, no problems
there. I
do need someone to maintain it moving forward. Some requirements is a
little
knowledge of PHP and MySQL, not much really unless you plan to make
backend
changes, since the site was designed to be a Content Management site,
where
backend knowledge is not necessary to publish content :). More
importantly
though as a requirement, is a love for the game and the Mantis Clan ;)
So
if you are interested, please email me at
yoritomojiriki@hotmail.com.
I have received several requests to add a Mantis Forum to the site.
That
has been up for awhile now, just haven't announced it yet or made the
link
public. So I will open the link to the forums after Labor Day weekend
with
the addition of some other site features to promote self-maintenance. I
have
a couple of people lined up to be Forum moderators to take good care of
you
(we could always use more moderators ofcourse hehe).
It is also time to unload my L5R collection for someone else to make
better use of. I have complete sets and almost complete sets of
everything
from Imperial Edition to Hidden City (a booster box and some odd packs
of
the latter), with playsets of current hard to find and power cards. If
you
are interested in purchasing the lot, please email me at
yoritomojiriki@hotmail.com with offers. I will also inlcude other L5R
stuff
like 3D strongholds and prints of artwork that I may find. I'm keeping
all
my original art though for the moment (for some reason this is tougher
to
let go since I can use it to decorate my home hehe).
It's been a blast, but it's time to hang up my kamas. Here is hoping
someone is willing to take up the mantle I leave behind :)... besides,
who
knows, if The Great Bear can return, why can't I ;)?
Yoritomo Jiriki
There you go, now I`m off camping for two day!
|
Fri 27th Aug 04
I don`t really have any news for you all today, but I do have a request! I`ve emailed Rich Wulf and Shawn Carman(AEG`s writers) and they have agreed to
answer some more questions about the clan we all love. I have written 8 questions already myself but if you have a (good) question you`d like to ask them
just email me and I might include it with mine. I`ll be sending the questions on the 3rd of September so you have until the 2nd to send your question my way.
Thanks,
|
Thurs 26th Aug 04
Dawn of the Empire is coming our way, and here`s an other preview not previously available. More info on the set and a 30 day
countdown will start around the 1st of September on AEG`s site!
*The Death of Ryoshun preview can be found in the Image Archives section.**
In other news, the design team as comfirmed that they are aware of the weakness of spells at the moment and are working on a way to make them more
efficient. Let`s cross our fingers until "Web of lies".

Sun 22nd Aug 04

Thurs 12th Aug 04
Last preview from Mark, and some info on Gencon and Dawn of the Empire. You've probably read this elsewhere, so it's below the preview.
*Beiden Shadows preview can be found in the Image Archives section.**
Wellup, it’s been a pretty eventful month (yeah, that’s right, I so
went there AGAIN!), and I’ve decided to end the Wrath of the Emperor
previews with Regions and Events. Booyah!
For those who don’t already know, AEG will be hosting an L5R Seminar
at GenCon Indy 2004 on Saturday night, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. We
will be revealing the complete set of Dawn of the Empire, the
October-release Limited Edition set available through the Imperial
Assembly. Like 1,000 Years of Darkness, this 108-card set will come
with a 3-ring binder, and all the non-Unique, non-Singular cards will
have a full playset (200 cards altogether). Unlike 1KYoD, much more of
Dawn of the Empire will be tournament-legal for the years to come (96
cards are both Diamond-bugged and Lotus-bugged). Look for more details
when you get to the show.
Hope to see everyone at the convention! Take care! : )
I'll also be at Gencon, and hope to see many of you there!

Tues 10th Aug 04
Two new articles from Letomo-san in the Articles section, on Yoma Sensei and Touching the Elements.
|
Tues 10th Aug 04
Latest couple of preview cards. An interesting Spell, and a kiho that looks good for Monk-y decks. Thanks to Many-Templed-Master, Kinuye and the Keeper of Air, we might even be able to start using some of these.
*Touching the Elements and Strength From Weakness previews can be found in the Image Archives section.**
|
Fri 6th Aug 04
Well, what do you think? I`m no artist but I think I`ve made pretty decent buttons for the links on the right. They give the site
more life then plain text don`t you think :o) ?
I`ve also stored all of July`s news and updates in the Previous News section and, as always, all of the Wrath of the Emperor previews can be found in the Image Archives.
Oh and what is that you say? You wanna see more previews... Well I guess I don`t have a choice, here it is, scroll satchel!
*Scroll satchel preview can be found in the Image Archives section.**
|
Tues 3rd Aug 04
Wow, I think this is the most interesting card in this set so far, not saying it`s the most powerful but sure is extremly interesting!
**The Many-Temple Master preview can be found in the Image Archives section.**
|
Sun 1st Aug 04
A new section if born! Well, half true, where there use to be "Aikune`s Shrine" there is now "Hero`s Shrine" a place where, from time to time, I will post
the story of our heros of old. Of course I had to start with the best of them all Isawa Tadaka who`s shrine can be found, as I said before, on the right where "Aikune`s shrine"`s link use to be.
If I`ve made a mistake or something I wrote is not accurate feel free to email me and tell me where you are getting that information from. If anyone want to write a shrine for a favored hero we will be happy
to put it up with the rest as long as its format fits with ours.
Also I`ve slithly changed the "Image Archives" section (ok I did it last week.) Hope it`s a bit more clear that way.
|
Sat 31st Jul 04
A defensive Terrain. Pretty "meh", but might find a use somewhere. Okay, maybe not :)
**The Snow-Covered Pass preview can be found in the Image Archives section.**
|
Thurs 29th Jul 04
Here are two nifty actions and the Shiba bloodspeaker which I forgot to post last time... oops :o)
**The Shiba Hayama, Fury of the Wolf, and Patronage Previews can be found in the Image Archives section.**
|
Tues 27th Jul 04
Well, all our 6 peeps for Wrath have been spoiled now (if I can count correctly) and we have an interesting selection. Tsuruko rounds out the personality base for Corrupt Phoenix nicely, so she gets a pretty decent rating. Tsukimi exp is solid, if not exciting. Isawa Sueno will see some play, though like Tsukimi I see her as solid but not exciting. Agasha Tomoiko is a bit weak, imho - she doesn't seem to work with attaching Battle spells as an Open action, because you only get an Open action to use the spell. Her stats are decent for her gold cost though, especially for a Phoenix, so she might see some play. Bairei XP is a very solid personality, combining card search and card draw. Our Shiba bloodspeaker strikes me as a complete coaster, however - has anyone seen any use for him?
Updates tonight: Still no button for the RPG section (I have to remember to make the button at work, since that's where I made the others and I don't have the font on my home PC. D'oh).
I have added the following this evening, though:
- A GM articles section has been added to the RPG section, with some articles by Horiuchi Akusen to kick it off.
- Isawa Letomo has written an article on Bairei XP - that's up here.
- Agasha Rejisu has sent me some info on the Agasha Family Mon to add to the Interview with Rich on the Agasha. It's at the bottom.
- Kakita Yoshiko has converted the beautiful Souls in Harmony art into a pair of LiveJournal-size avatars. Also suitable for forum use!
The smart people among you will have noticed that I didn't actually create any of the above. That's just the way I like it - I'm really happy that others find this site worth submitting their own work to. Thanks, all of you!
|
Tues 27th Jul 04
The rumours are true, here is the first of our 2 bloodspeakers, our very own Murderess! I know a lot of people are gonna be happy about her *waves to half the members of the Shiba_halls list*
**The Asako Tsukuro preview can be found in the Image Archives section.**
Hi all! Well it`s not the preview all of you are waiting for but it`s quite nice, take a peek.
**The The Resurection Preview can be found in the Image Archives section.**
|
Fri 23th Jul 04
He`s baaaack! And oh my God he is one of the best Phoenix card I`ve seen in a while.
Boxable HR, TWO great abilities, 5chi, decent price and 3PH. Yes please!
Here he is, one of my favortite Phoenix;
**The Asako Bairei can be found in the Image Archives section.**
|
Tues 20th Jul 04
Followers, unfortunatly as Mark Jelfo said to me:
Phoenix were one of the only clans that did not seem to have a
Follower specifically designed for their clan... although one could argue
that they will be able to use the new Spells better than any other clan
(you`ll see soon), or the Kihos (again, you`ll see what I mean), and
even some of the Items. However, just about ANYONE could use a Follower
like the one below. Destroying pesky Terrains is always good.
But you have to agree that this follower could easely be used by anyone!
**Crippled Bone Runner can be found in the Image Archives section.**
|
Sat 17th Jul 04
One of the best art seen so far, I really like the "Phoenix has many female characters" theme going on ; )
**Souls in Harmony can be found in the Image Archives section.**
|
Thur 15th Jul 04
The honourable Mark Jelfo had some free time last night and decided to send us a present!
A very nice looking Phoenix background for all you Phoenix fans out there. I think it`s safe to
assume that this is our beautiful Shiba Tsukimi: )
WotE Phoenix 800x600
WotE Phoenix 1024x768
WotE Phoenix 1152x864
WotE Phoenix 1280x960
WotE Phoenix 1600x1200
As I said before, if you wanna see previous previews you can found them all in the "Image Archives" section.
|
Tues 13th Jul 04
This week`s preview. This time around we will be seeing commanders and generals!
**The agasha Tomioko preview can be found in the Image Archives section.**
FYI, I`ll be adding the previous previews in the Image Archives section.
|
Sun 11th July 04
More updates from me - added a guest article on Japanese syllables to the General section, and my Benelux kotei report to the Decks section after I realised it wasn't up already. Time to take a break from updating, I think!
|
Sun 11th July 04 (almost)
The RPG section is born! Still some work to do integrating it properly with the rest of the site - eventually it will have its own button down the left hand side. It's also still very incomplete - I have a lot of work to do before it approaches the vision I have for it *grin*
Feedback - and contributions - are welcome, of course. At first I'm working on porting the content from Isawa Kenichi's library into this site, so thanks are due to David Carlson for writing it and apologies are due for taking so long to put it up here!
No doubt there will be broken links somewhere in the section - when you increase the size of a site by 20% overnight, that's bound to happen. I'd be grateful if people could report broken links to me (or Kijutsu) rather than just ignoring them, so I can get them fixed asap. Thanks!
|
Sat 10th July 04
Thanks to a few technical issues I've been unable to update for a bit - but that's now sort of fixed. I've added another article by Letomo-san, a new Duelling deck, and several new Personality write-ups. The articles are all tagged as new, while the deck appears at the top of the Decks section.
Good to see that the previews have started - and that we're on the list of sites! My initial thoughts on Sueno are that she's ok, but probably not enough on her own to make a CoR switch deck viable. Naturally, I'm happy to be proven wrong...
|
Sat 10th Jul 04
Today`s preview. Quite a good card I might add!
**preview can be found in the Image Archives section.**
|
Sat 10th Jul 04
The previews are gonna start real soon, while I don`t have any right now(look foward to them popping up this weekend) I do
have the "Wrath of the Emporor" logo to show all of you! Exited yet? ; )
*see "image archives" for full picture.
|
Wed 7th Jul 04
The Kotei season has ended and the Phoenix faired pretty well! Good job everyone. Now the attention
turns to GenCon and the, soon to be release, Wrath of the Emperor expension, featuring the Crane, Shadowlands and
Scorpion. Also making a come back are Senseis, last seen in Jade edition. Here is the quote from AEG
on the sensei cards and more:
"L5R CCG: (product information for ordering decks and boosters)
Honour is a force more powerful than steel Originally introduced back in the Honour Bound expansion,
Sensei cards make their return to Legend of the Five Rings in the Wrath of the Emperor expansion set.
Each one is designed specifically to completely change the way L5R is played. Wrath also features more
personalities for each Clan to reflect storyline and tournament results that players have earned. These
new cards will offer L5R players refreshing new ways to play their favourite CCG."
There you have it, also look foward to the previews starting soon!
*The actual scan from AEG can be found here

Tue 29th Jun 04
A very hot day here in Japan, the temperature never seems to go below 30... Anyway some good news
for us this week, Origin is now over and while we didn`t get an story prizes the Phoenix did rise
high above many thanks to Arthur Reid(open tournament, 1st place) and Nik Vincent (main tournament, 2nd place).
We have an other miny interview about the Agasha with Rich Wulf too! Shamelessly taken from the halls of the Shiba list ; )
I`ve put it up next the other interview. Thanks to Arthur Reid for the interview questions.
|
Fri 19th Jun 04
I'm back from the dead, like a good Phoenix. Sprained my ankle the day before the UK Kotei, when I was intending to drive there... that plan fell through, so I spent the weekend reading, unwilling to even hobble to the computer in the next room :)
Thankfully I can walk again, and life is becoming a bit less hectic. So I have time to write updates! I've added an article on honour deck winds here, and am writing some more fiction in the background. I should also manage to get some HC decks up this weekend - check back in a day or two!
The news of Tsukune's nomination is very good, though I must admit to not being entirely uninvolved. Still, the job is only half done - to get the Soul of Shiba back, the Gencon winner has to choose Tsukune. Make it happen, guys!
|
Wed 17th Jun 04
Sorry for the delay in updates lately. Samoshii-san was injured (his leg I think) and I`ve been
busy adjusting to my new life.
First of, a very good news! Tsukune has been nominated for the Legion of the Dead! Now to have
her come back. Go Phoenix, win GenCon! For Tsukune and Shiba!
As for site updates, I`ve posted my newest Japanese Article and a new story, Inquisitors III, by Melanie.
|
Sun 30th May 04
Hi all! I`m back from my tiny honeymoon in Disney Land (The one in Tokyo that is!).
AEG`s staff have posted a bounty for their favorite characters that they would like to see nominated to the Legion. The link can be found here.
The ever creative Isawa Letomo has given us some more of his exellent research. I`ve posted 3 new articles from him.
|
Tues 25th May 04
*Small changes, Wed 26th*
Quick update to congratulate Mr. Nik Vincent who won Region 9`s story prize. His comments:
"...It was a very fun tournament and not an easy task. Alot of tough competition. I was playing a suicide MGC switch deck that ran underhand. Maybe after a while I might post a deck list..."
He nominated Oni no Tadaka and Isawa Tadaka as his second choice, but since Oni no Tadaka is not a legal choice Isawa Tadaka has now joined the Legion of the dead . His story can be found on AEG`s site under "Kotei Results".
|
Sun 23rd May 04
Added an enlightenment deck to the Decks section, and an article on control to the More Advanced Strategy section. I have Koteis for the next two weekends, so updates may be a bit slow for a while!
|
Thur 20th May 04
Added two more articles from Isawa Letomo Here.
|
Tues 18th May 04
Here are the lastest 3 articles(Yes three!) from the now famous Isawa Letomo-san. I`d like to thank him for taking the time to write those
great articles even if he has been really busy lately. Thanks again.
I`ve added a link to the Phoenix Forum on the right side. The link may change in the future but for now that`s where it`ll be.
As I was looking at my old computer`s file and I found some old pictures of Kijutsu drawn by Daniel Theriault. If you want to see them just go in the
Image Archives section under Kijustu.
Last update from a little while from me, don`t worry I`ll be back in a week or 2 ;o)
|
Sun 16th May 04
This just in, The winner of the Ji tournament chose Shiba Danjuro! Look foward to Danjuro EXP. Special thanks to Mirutomo Loki for the info!
|
Fri 14th May 04
Kijutsu covered the important stuff, so just to tag on my tuppence...
The new forum will become more integrated with this site over time, starting with any HC decks I post. For now, I'm going to be concentrating on learning the post-HC environment before posting too many decks!
Glad to see Mark has added us to the previews. I'm already looking forward to Wrath of the Emperor, when the Keeper of Air and Book of Air become legal...
Isawa Achim took second place at the Italian kotei. His report is now available in the Decks section of this site. Thanks Achim-san, and well done!
|
Fri 14th May 04
I got some news for you all today.
First of all, the Phoenix has a Forum! It is located here just scroll down a bit.
Also, I know I said it many times before but Mark Jelfo has added us to the previews! Here`s the quotes:
"Yep. Nice site so far. I will be adding you guys to the list for Wrath of the Emperor. Things are going to be extremely busy for my dept. until the summer conventions are over, so I don't know if I'll be in the position to provide you any personalized support, but you will become part of the Preview list when it starts..."
Last but not least, the Phoenix Jerseys are available for order! Get yours at The lion clan's home page.
|
Sun 9th May 04
Congrats to Kijutsu on his upcoming marriage!
Lots of stuff to say here. Firstly, a lot of people have asked about a forum. I've spent some time looking into this, and the upshot is that it's not possible to add a forum to this webspace - it's not permitted by the hosting company (unless I can find/write a forum that doesn't use a database).
Secondly, the Fires of the Hidden City fictions, up on AEG's main page, feature our clan strongly. Even if you're not normally interested in fiction, they're well worth reading!
Thirdly, I've added my Polish Kotei tournament report to the Decks section, and three new personality writeups to the Personalities section. I've also updated a couple of the old write-ups to include new fiction appearances. If anyone notices any references I've missed, please point them out to me!
Fourthly, we've started a bounty for bringing back Shiba Tsukune (and hence the Soul of Shiba). We're trying to keep everything in this thread - please post additions there, or contact Kijutsu or I and we'll gladly post for you.
That's it from me for now...

Hello again!
Two tournaments are being held this weekend, I do not know the results yet but I wish good luck to all Phoenix players!
I`ve updated the Beginners section with a "How to build a basic deck" strategy article.
Sorry no Japanese article this month, I have all the work for it ready but I`m way too busy this month, getting married and all;o)
Oh and almost forgot, the story from the Hidden City rule book can be found here. Enjoy!

Hi all! I`ve been a really busy beaver lately, updating this and that and sending emails left and right.
Well most of it payed off, while we still didn`t get a reply from Mark Jelfo I did get Superior Strategist`s administrator`s permission to
take Phoenix previews that get posted on his site. I`ve taken all the personalities and added them in the Image Archives. Big thanks to him!
The other email, probably the reason why you are here, was from Shawn Carman and Rich wulf. They answered 13 Phoenix related questions, most of them are very interesting! I might ask them to do more in the future.
On a last note, we are, due to popular demand, thinking(working) of adding a Forum to this site, it`ll frankly depend on the size of it and how much time we have. Stay tuned!

Added my Hunter of the Wolf tourney report here. Great news about the Soul of Shiba - post bounties to this thread if you're interested in helping out!

An victory for the Phoenix! Region 6 of the Kotei was won by the Phoenix! As of yet I only know that the winner`s name is Ian (from the Shiba Halls?) His most wonderful choice was
none other then Isawa Norikazu! Congratulation to Mr. Ian! The top four were three Phoenix MGC and one Scorpion Kaukatsu dishonour bomb (who made the final but lost).
I`ve updated all beginners articles to Hidden City, if you feel some of the cards I`ve put are too hard for beginners or that I`ve missed some feel free to E-mail me.
I`d also like to propose a little something, I`d be willing to start a bounty for Shiba Tsukune at Gencon! Her returned would not only mean that we would get one of our
greatest hero but, as confirmed by Rich Wulf, it would also bring back the Soul of Shiba! If you are willing to give a little something or start a bounty for her I`d be willing
to help(I can give up to 100$ of Japanese stuff). Let me know!

Wow, this month is gonna be really really busy! My parents just left after a stay of two weeks at my house. Considering that they won`t visit me again
for an other 2~3 years, this was an extremely important time. All in all they loved Japan and it`s beautity very much! I`m also busy 'cause, well I`m getting married in a month;o)
I have the follow up of Melanie`s Inquisitors story. Very nice indeed! Look foward to chapter 3 next month.
Many good news for us Phoenix. We have won two Virtue tournaments, Ji and Meyo! Still no news as of who was chosen for Ji, and
as for Meyo, the winner's three choices were; Kiyune(?!?), Katsuhito(?!) and Ryouko.
Also as most likely all of you know, we got 6 personalities in this set. I must say I am pleased with almost all of them! Asako Soun fits nicely in Elemental dragon decks,
Kaneka, well Kaneka fits nicely in many decks including non-Phoenix ones! Shiba Aikune will see play in dueling and military decks, Shiba Koseki basicly give +2F or +2C to our Shugenja,
Shiba Marihito has some good potential what with all those shrines and temples in everyone's decks, and Shiba Toshiki who well... could have been good ;o)

Mon 12th Apr 04
Several more personality write-ups. Of the 27 pre-HC, I've completed 22. Hopefully the rest will be finished soon!
Still haven't got around to the RPG section, I'll be moving on to that as soon as the personality write-ups are done.

Wed 7th Apr 04
Here it is, the third "Japanese Article" of this monthly section! I hope everyone will like it as I worked real hard to try and give you a real good feeling of life in Rokugan. Enjoy!
Next month`s article will be about suffix(-san-chan, etc...). By the way, sorry that it is a bit late, my parents came here all the way
from Canada so I`ve been really busy lately.
I`ve uploaded Aikune exp2 and Kaneka in the Image Archives sections and I will ask other webmasters for
permission to put up the other Phoenix previews.

Mon 5th Apr 04
You know, all through Gold I never dreamed that I'd ever say these words: Yay for Kaneka! Not only is he a kick-ass card, he's also getting involved in the Gozoku. Great times, great times.
I'm off for a week's holiday in France, starting tomorrow morning. It will be an excellent chance to get some more content written, so expect a batch of new stuff when I get back.
|
Mon 29th Mar 04
Well, here it is! He is back and he kicks major butt!! Aikune will go in all my decks, most anyway ; )
Kaneka is supposed to be even better too! These are good times for us Phoenix!
Sorry about the preview mixed up, Mark is a busy man and he hasn`t got any time yet to "inspect" our site. I`ve been
doing the paper work, all that I can do now is wait.
I`ll have my new Japanese article done soon and a new story from Melanie also. I guess the biggest news is,
Shawn Carman has agreed to have us ask him some questons, and while I have my own question(10 of them) I want to ask you, our readers,
to send me some good questions! I`ll send the questions on the 4th next weekend(don`t forget I work in Japan`s time).

Sun 28th Mar 04
During a very pleasant journey to Canterbury (for a tournament, of course...) I've had a chance to get some updates done. Ryouko, Isawa Mino and Isawa Ochiai's write-ups have been added to the personalities section, while I've added a couple of decks to the decks section. The internal gubbins of the site have also been overhauled, but that's less important to everyone else :)
I've been doing some thinking as to how to improve the usefulness of this site for us all (myself included). It strikes me that having some sort of discussion/feedback area attached to each decklist could be a very useful facility - so that people could give authors feedback on their decks, and ask questions about them. I'll look into doing this: maybe simply opening threads on the Kobune Port and linking the threads from here would be a decent solution. Feedback and ideas on this welcome!

Sat 27th Mar 04
Well, the spoilers are in full swing now. So far the Phoenix have seen one Personality - Asako Soun - whose ability seems geared to getting Dragons out more easily, but on a 7G personality I'm not convinced how workable it is. Ah well, time (and playtesting!) will tell...
Got a couple of long train journeys over the weekend, which will be an excellent chance to get some more Personality reviews and articles done. Watch this space!
|
Sun 21st Mar 04
Well, the previews have started! There's a list here with all the links to the cards. Lots of interesting ones: I'll try to get some strategy articles written before Easter, when I actually have a holiday...
Yobanjin Wyrm... why do I suspect the influence of a certain member of the Design Team? Ono-san, I bow to your vision. Oh, and: 8 days to Aikune, 13 to Kaneka...
|
Fri 19th Mar 04
Well, like all of you I am waiting for the previews to start, hopefully they`ll start real soon. Until they start here is a new deck,
an offical story and some information from Shawn Carman.
The deck from Kyle Nicholson is located here. The story, which is an OFFICIAL one about Isawa Izumi, is located
right here.
As for the tidbits of information that I have. I`ve heard from Shawn Carman, AEG`s story team writer, that contrary to popular belief
the City of Remembrance was NOT destroyed due to Phoenix winning some tournaments with corrupted decks. He promised that it will get more
story time in the future. Also, and that one should be obvious, he said that the Phoenix will be getting a lot of story time in Hidden City.
This is not surprising since "Hidden City" basically means "Gisei Toshi". ;o)

Boy, am I tired. Free ski trips are all very well, but they do take it out of you :-)
Ok, so I haven't done any updates for 2 weeks. Sorry! Glad to see Kijutsu has been keeping things going in my absence :-) Today we have another 11 articles from Isawa Letomo, but I still haven't got the RPG material in order yet. Maybe next Wednesday, the next time I`ll have a free evening...
I'm very pleased to see someone else writing fiction for the site, too - thank-you, Melanie, for a well-written and enjoyable piece. Good to see the Inquisition getting some good press! :-)

Mon 15th Mar 04
Wow do I have good news for you all today! I found out, from spoilers in "Undefeated
Magazine", that our/my lord Aikune is coming back! It is confirmed that Aikune will get an Exp2!
Other experienced personalities comfirmed are Tsuruchi Nobumoto, Akodo Tadenori(as a Bloodspeaker),
and Doji Yasuyo (Too bad, if she had gotten
experienced later she would have joined us since she`ll marry Kaneka soon).
Please take note that the "formal" previews should start in a week and not today as stated earlier, sorry.

Tues 9th March 04
After an hour of editing it to HTML, here is a brand new fiction from Melanie Gallant!
The story of an Air Tensai and her two companions against a corrupted Monk.
Here it is for everyone to see Part 1. You can expect part two some time
in April.
Thanks Melanie: )

Wed 3rd March 04
I told Samoshii-san that I`d be taking some time off... I lied : P
I`ve made a new section for all past images. Instead of searching all of the Previous News for past spoilers, images, backgrounds, and the likes
you`ll be able to find them all in the Image Archives link on the right.
I`d also like to point out that you can still find all old news and updates here.
Last but not least, Mark Jeflo of AEG has told us that the previews should start around the 15th of March. Be sure to check all L5R
sites around that time!

Tues 2nd March 04
Wow. So much to do this evening... not sure I'll get it all done, but let's try.
First, thanks to John Pope for a scan of the Hidden City advert in the latest Imperial Herald. It's up here. A warning in the story section: Beware of Scorpions, especially female ones...
Next, Isawa Letomo-san has been kind enough to send me several of his older articles, many of which are still relevant and useful in Diamond. I'll be putting some or all of them up as soon as possible.
In a similar vein, the Guest Decks section has been updated with a very interesting Essence of Gaki-Do concept by Shiba Mythos.
Perhaps most importantly, I've now got all the RPG material from Isawa Kenichi's Libraries. Expect to see that up soon!
In other news, Mark Jelfo has been talking about the Ratling (sorry, Nezumi) presence in Hidden City on the Kobune Port.
|
Mon 1st Mar 04
Here it is, the second "Japanese Article" of this monthly section! I hope everyone will like it as I worked
real hard to try and give you a real good feeling of life in Rokugan. Enjoy!
Next month`s article will be about "you".

Sun 29th Feb 04
Adding an article from Isawa Letomo, a deck by Isawa Kastuichi and 7 more personality write-ups by yours truly. A big thanks to Daniel and Goju Shime for their art contributions - every day I wake up to find that Kijutsu's added something new :-)
David Carlson, aka Isawa Kenichi of Isawa Kenichi's libraries, will sadly be leaving the L5R community in the next few days. However, he has offered me the RPG section of his site to put up here - expect is as soon as we've sorted out the best way to transfer everything from one to the other!
One last thing. If anyone finds any problems with the site, or has any suggestions for improvements, please do email one of us! For instance, I've done no testing of the site on Netscape, or with a dial-up connection. My Inbox is always open... ;)

Mon 23rd Feb 04
Just a small message to say to you all that the site will get updated real soon. All is ready for a big one. So why haven`t we
updated yet? We are simply waiting for the main page`s top pic to be ready and then aligned everything to it.
Things to expect; new images, more Phoenix write-ups, a link page, a page on Aikune and many more minor updates!
|
Wed 18th Feb 04
I'd just like to thank all of you who have told us how much you like the site, and offered suggestions for improvements. It's nice to be appreciated :-)
Ahem. Yay previews! :-)
I`d also like to point out that the first Japanese article is up! (Kijutsu)
|
Wed 18th Feb 04
Many minor updates. We`ve fix some broken links, polished some pages, added some Asako personalities write-up and updated the Advance and Beginners Articles. We`ve also added three new Articles from Letomo-san in the Articles section.
Mark Jelfo, Creative & Marketing Director of AEG, has just confirmed that we will be receiving the Phoenix card previews from now on!
|
Mon 16th Feb 04
First of all I`d like to say hello to everyone! It is an honour to work on this page and I hope that this page will help as many people as possible! BANZAI!!!
As you might have heard I`m the "Agasha Kijutsu"(AKA Luc Sasaki) who Samoshii-san as been talking about. I`m a big Phoenix fan and I`ve got lots of ideas for this site. Examples? Sure! More icon less text, more articles/news, a "Shrine to Aikune", How to speak like a Samurai in Japanese, and maybe in the future I`ll mirror this site and translate it into French.
If any of you have suggestion please email me or Samoshii-san and we`ll do our best to keep everyone happy.

Sat 14th Feb 04
Over the last few days the format, purpose and administration of the site have undergone an overhaul. I originally started this site as somewhere for me to store my deck lists, fiction and tourney reports - and somewhere to play around with HTML. I added the Articles section to justify putting it up on the 'web, and to save me writing the same things out over and over on message boards :-) But recently, a lot of people have shown interest in the page, and one person in particular pestered me to make it a better resource for the Clan.
That person was Agasha Kijutsu, and I agreed to tidy up and expand the site if he would agree to help out. He did, so we're now going to run this place together. We hope to make it a useful resource for all you Phoenix players out there!
There will be plenty more changes over the next week or two as we agree on format/layout/stuff. But I have no intention of adding a forum, before anyone asks - there are already some quality L5R forums, and I don't see any need to add another one. The Kobune Port is the place I normally frequent, and I don't really have time to visit other boards any more!
