Returning to my first articles, this one is about a spell. Recently [as
of when I write this], on the official list, there is some discussion of
the spell Clarity of Purpose. Thus, I will cover a few thoughts on it.
Clarity of Purpose, a common spell from Winds of Change, costs 3 gold,
and has a focus of 2. As a battle action, bow the caster to give a
personality +3F, and all opposing personalities +2F.
So, of what use is a spell that gives your opponent a bonus? I can think
of several possibilities off the top of my head. First, it only gives the
bonus to personalities in the opposing army. If there is no opposing
army, no one gets the +2F. Your guy gets +3F, and that is it.
Second, nothing says your guy has to stay at the battle. Give your guy
the +3F, then you move, similiar to Rend the Soul. Just a thought.
One thing to keep in mind, this is one of the few reusable force boosts
in Diamond.
Finally, and something some people have gotten, and others seem to have
missed, is that the spell says that you give "...a personality in the
current battle +3F...". It says nothing about it having to be your
personality. Thus, if you have at least 2 personalities, and preferably
more, this spell can become an even bigger reusable force boost than
Razor Edge Dojo. Give one of the opposing personalities +3F, especially
if they are already bowed, and all, I repeat ALL, of your personalities
are +2F. Bask in the thought. I think my MGC deck just gained a new card.
I hope this helps you think of this card if you use Shugenja. Good Luck!
