Simple Huts is one of the few holdings that produces lots of
gold, but requires another card be bowed as well. This one costs 1 gold
and bows itself and any other farm you control to produce 5 gold. It was
originally printed in Spirit Wars, but with a gold production of 4. This
made sense then, as the environment included Small Farm, a holding that
produced 1 gold. Thus, bowing a Small Farm and a Simple Huts was a gold
production gain of 3. However, all the other Farms at the time produced
2 gold, making the Huts production a gain of only 2.
With Diamond, Small Farms was gone, and all the Farms available
now cost 2 or more gold, and produced 2 or more gold. Thus, AEG changed
Simple Huts to produce 5 gold. This was definitely a good idea, as it
made a Farm gold scheme actually possible and worth it.
Simple Huts, like the Crystal Mine, produces a lot of gold, and
can greatly speed personality production. Unlike Crystal Mine, Simple
Huts is not Singular, so each one is useful. Also, 2 of the Farms can
fit almost any deck, Barley Farm [for its utility], and Ashigaru Fort
[for its ability].
Currently Diamond legal farms are: Rice Paddy, Ashigaru Fort,
Fields of Grain, and the just introduced Barley Farm. This means you can
have 12 holdings plus the 3 Simple Huts. That is almost a full gold
scheme right there. Granted, it is one that doesn't usually produce a
lot of gold, but that is answered by the Simple Huts. Especially with
the Barley Farms, you can still produce 1 seperate gold, then bow the
Barley Farm and the Simple Huts for an additional 5. Not bad at all.
This may not be the best sort of Gold Scheme for clans which
produce 4 or 5 gold, but for 3 gold production strongholds, it is fairly
decent. Lion, Ratling, and the Shadowlands could consider it [Though the
Spawning Pit may have better gold options, try this and see what you
think]. Ratling even gets the bonus that the Fields of Grain first turn
as well as the others, which other 3 gold production strongholds do not.
I hope this helps your next deck 's gold production. Enjoy!
