Welcome to the Nest of the Phoenix, a site themed on the Phoenix Clan from Legend of the Five Rings. This site mainly concerns Phoenix-y strategies for the Five Rings CCG. The vast majority of articles and decks will be for the Diamond environment.

New Interview with story Kami Rich Wulf, courtesy of Shiba Mythos. Several interesting bits and pieces, including an answer to why Kanjiro is a dragon :-)

More from Letomo-san in the article section. And I've also posted the latest version of my Surge bomb deck based on our forum discussions and some playtesting.

There's also now a "favourites icon" for the Nest. It's done by me, however, and I'll happily post a better one if someone makes one for me :)

Lots of corrections, and a new Isawa Letomo's Research page up in the Articles section. Thanks to Letomo-san for pointing out that the link to Isawa Jon's second spells article was broken (oops :)), and it seems that the links to several of Letomo-san's articles had gone missing during a dodgy update. Always a risk when there are several copies of the pages floating around...

The second part of the Spells analysis by Isawa Jon is up in the "More advanced strategy articles" section. And an excellent (unofficial!) article on Rokugani Aristocracy by Eljas Oksanen (Hitomi Kinrei) is up in the RPG section (under "Articles for PCs"). Well worth reading, it adds a whole new dimension of social structure to the monolithic "Samurai" caste.

Mouzaka report and a CoR honour deck up in the decks section. Mouzaka was awesome, thanks to all the organisers for making it possible, and everyone I met for contributing to a great weekend for me. Special thanks to the Greek Phoenix brigade for an extended playtesting/brainstorming session :-)

*takes a deep breath* UPDATE!

Plenty of stuff to say, and past time saying it. The initial reason for lack of updates was that I'd installed Norton's protection suite, and on doing so I was no longer able to FTP to the site. I didn't realise that Norton was causing the problem, though, until I sat down a couple of weeks ago and decided I was going to take the time to find out what was wrong.

However, I've also been playing a lot less L5R recently, for various reasons. As such, in such a complex environment as the current one, my ability to write strategy articles that are useful, insightful and so on is limited. So I'm unlikely to be posting as much to the site as I used to.

Thankfully, Isawa Jon has volunteered to take up the mantle of strategy writer! The first of his articles, covering a range of spells, is up here. I'd be more than happy to turn the Nest over to people who are better positioned to make use of it; I'm happy to continue hosting it on my webspace, so if any of you out there feel you have something to add and want to become part of the team, please let me know :)

The Kobune Port Phoenix forums are back, by the way. See you all there :-)

Fri 10th Dec 04

Hi all! I have some 2 bad news and some story news! I`m a bad news first kindda guy so here goes.
Bad: I`m extremly busy lately and it`s only gonna get worst. L5R is gonna take a brake in my life for me for a while.
Bad #2: The Kobune Port, which is where the Nest`s forum is, has been hacked. The Nest`s forum is gonna be out for the time being...
Story: I asked Rich is Danjiro the dragon really was Aikune`s father and his answer was: "Yes. His spirit, at any rate."

And since I probably won`t post until then, Merry Christmas everyone!

Some good news for us Phoenix. We can still win tournaments! Nik Vincent has won the "Perfect Gift" tournament in Chicago with his Phoenix Gozoku honour deck.
The winner`s clan will bestow a gift upon Toturi Naseru at his wedding that he favors above all others. Nik can choose the nature of the gift but haven`t decided as of yet.

In other news, Jared, a memeber of the design team, as sworn to depower the Phoenix as we are obviously over powered*.

*Not to be taken seriously:P

Email Samoshii or Kijutsu if you want to tell us we`re wrong, or right, or idiots. Comments on fiction especially appreciated, positive or negative!
